Overview
This 7-day Winter School is designed to introduce law students to the legal framework, rights, and protections available for women and children under the new criminal laws. It provides a comprehensive understanding of contemporary legal provisions, recent reforms, victim-centric approaches, and procedural safeguards. Through interactive lectures, case studies, discussions, and participant presentations, the course aims to develop the analytical, practical, and advocacy skills required to address crimes against women and children effectively.The program equips students with the knowledge to interpret relevant statutes, examine landmark judgments, understand enforcement mechanisms, and explore the socio-legal dimensions of protection. By the end of the course, participants will be able to critically analyze legal issues, apply new laws in practice, and contribute to the promotion of justice and the protection of vulnerable groups with ethical and informed approaches.

Dr. Inderpreet Kaur, is working as Professor and Associate Dean in the School of Legal Studies at K. R. Mangalam University, Gurugram, Haryana and has 15 Yrs of academic experience. She has done Masters in Human Rights and is a Gold Medalist. She has been awarded her Ph.D. from Department of Legal Studies, Barkatullah University, Bhopal (M.P.). She has in her credits four books, several UGC Care List -I Research papers. Under her supervision 5 Ph.D.’s have been awarded and around 30 LLM dissertations too. Dr. Kaur has chaired International and National Conferences and has also been invited as judge in Moot Court competitions by various national universities. Her area of interest is Human Rights, Constitution Law and Civil Laws. She has also been awarded with National women leadership award on International Women’s Day by Bhagidari Jan Sahyog Samiti in collaboration with Delhi State Legal Authority. Apart from this she is also member in Internal Committee and chairperson of IPR, Legal and Ethical Matters Cell.

Dr Sarvesh Shahi
Dr. Sarvesh Kumar Shahi is Assistant Professor–II and Head of the Department of Criminal Law and Criminal Justice System at KIIT Law School, KIIT Deemed to be University Bhubaneswar where he is known for his scholarly rigor and practical orientation, he integrates doctrinal analysis with policy and empirical perspectives in the classroom.
Dr. Shahi has authored three books and published over 40 research papers in reputed international and national journals, contributing significantly to contemporary discourse on criminal justice reform, policing, sentencing policy, human rights, and procedural safeguards.
Earlier in his career, he served as a Research Associate at the Centre for Rural Studies (CRS), Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie. In this role, he engaged in advanced research and policy-oriented studies, contributing to governance and justice-related academic initiatives.
Dr. Shahi has been invited as Visiting Faculty at premier training and research institutions, including Odisha Judicial Academy, Central Academy of Police Training, Bureau of Police Research and Development, Bhopal
Biju Patnaik State Police Academy, Bhubaneswar
Through these engagements, he has delivered specialized lectures and training sessions for judicial officers, police officials, and administrative trainees on criminal law reforms, investigation standards, evidence appreciation, forensic application, and human rights jurisprudence. He has also served as Guest Faculty at Maharashtra National Law University Nagpur, where he has addressed students and scholars on advanced issues in criminal law and criminal justice administration.
Dr. Shahi is a member of the Editorial Board of the Indian Police Journal, published by the Ministry of Home Affairs, reflecting his academic standing in policing and criminal justice scholarship.
In recognition of his excellence in teaching and research, he has been conferred the Pride of India Award and the Pillars of India Award in the category of Best Teacher (Law), underscoring his dedication to legal education and academic leadership.
Dr. Shahi continues to contribute actively to legal scholarship, professional training, and institutional development, strengthening the interface between academia, judiciary, police administration, and public policy in India’s criminal justice system.
Dr Varda Mone
Dr. Varda Mone teaches Constitution and Administrative Law, Law and Technology, Cyber Law, and other subjects on Legal Research and Methodologies. She was a visiting fellow at Swiss Institute of Comparative Law as Van Calker Fellow & also atTashkent State University of Law, Tashkent, for 2022-2023. Dr. Varda Mone earned her Ph.D. in Laws from VIT-AP University, Andhra Pradesh (2021-2024). She holds a Master's degree from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University, Lucknow (2019-2020), and a Bachelor's degree from Nagpur University (2014-2019). She is an expert in public speaking, having won several national and international mooting and debating competitions during her studies. Her research pursuits have led to several renowned publications and participation in international research conferences.
Dr. Abhishek Thommandru
Dr. Abhishek Thommandru teaches Technological Laws, Business Laws, and Banking Laws, with a focus on FinTech and its Legal Mechanisms. He served as a Central Asian Legal Research Fellow at TSUL - Uzbekistan (2023 – 2024). He holds a Diploma In Financial Crime, Corruption & Money Laundering from Aristotle University Of Thessaloniki, Greece (2022). He graduated from Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University and holds an LL.M. in Business Laws from Andhra University (2016-2018). He holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Law from Vellore Institute of Technology-AP University, focusing on “Anti-Money Laundering Policies, Practices, and Regulations in India: A Study of Banking Sector Compliance (2023).” Currently, he is actively involved as an International Research Fellow at the University of Religions and Denominations, Iran (2023 – 2025).
Ms. Shrimayee Puhan
Dr. Shrimayee Puhan is an academician, legal researcher, and advocate specializing in interdisciplinary legal studies, human rights, gender justice, and child protection laws. She is currently associated with UPES School of Law as an Assistant Professor of Law. She holds a Ph.D. in Law from Pacific University, Udaipur, and has academic qualifications including LL.M. (Gold Medalist), PGCCL, PGDIPR, and B.A. LL.B. (Hons.).
Her doctoral research focused on “Sexual Offences against Children Vis-à-Vis the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act, 2019”, critically examining criminal behaviour, criminal liability, and reformative justice through an interdisciplinary lens combining law and behavioural sciences.
Dr. Puhan has actively contributed to legal academia through research paper presentations, edited book initiatives, moot court activities, pro bono legal service programs, and conferences on human rights and gender justice. Her areas of interest include child rights, criminal law, gender neutrality under POCSO, constitutional law, and legal education.
She has also contributed to legal education initiatives such as SWAYAM PRABHA lectures on Equality and Federalism under the Ministry of Education’s E-content development program
Ms. Yogita Jain
Ms. Yogita Jain is a legal academic and researcher associated with the Faculty of Law at SGT University. She has been actively involved in legal education, moot court activities, public speaking initiatives, and academic event coordination. Her academic background includes studies at Amity University Gurgaon, and she has contributed to several student-centric legal and literary initiatives.
She has participated in and supported various moot court and legal awareness programmes, including serving as a panel judge during the Fresher’s Induction Moot at Campus Law Centre, Delhi University. Her work reflects a strong interest in advocacy training, legal research, and student mentorship.
Ms. Jain has also been associated with organizations and student bodies such as Jurisverse, Moot Court Society, and public speaking forums, demonstrating active engagement in extracurricular and co-curricular legal activities. Her areas of interest include legal education, mooting culture, public speaking, and academic coordination within law institutions
