Welcome to SAGE WINTER SCHOOL-SWS, an immersive 2 week program designed to bridge the gap between hardware and intelligence. This hands-on course explores the cutting-edge field of AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things). Participants will move beyond basic microcontrollers to build "Intelligent Edge" devices using ESP32 and ESP32-CAM. You will learn to collect data, train Neural Networks using Edge Impulse, and deploy computer vision models that can detect objects and anomalies in real-time—all communicating via LoRa and Cloud platforms.
Why Attend?
- Innovate: Transition from simple data logging to building smart, autonomous systems that "see" and "react."
- Practical Skills: Gain verified expertise in TinyML, Embedded Vision, and IoT protocols.
- Project-Based: walk away with a functional "AI Sentry" prototype and a portfolio of Edge AI applications.
What you'll learn
|
Module 1: The Foundation (IoT & Data)
Module 2: Visual AI (The "Eye")
Module 3: Sensor AI & Connectivity
Module 4: The Final Integration
|
Upon successful completion of the SWS workshop, participants will be able to:
- IoT Implementation: Configure the ESP32 architecture to interface with diverse sensors (DHT22, PIR, IR) and transmit telemetry data to Cloud IoT dashboards (Blynk/ThingSpeak) using MQTT/HTTP protocols.
- Data Engineering for AI: Apply best practices to curate, label, and preprocess custom datasets (image and sensor data) specifically for training Neural Networks on constrained edge devices.
- Vision AI Deployment: Develop, train, and deploy Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) on the ESP32-CAM to perform real-time object detection and classification (TinyML).
- Advanced Connectivity: Design robust communication architectures using LoRa technology to enable long-range, off-grid data transmission where standard WiFi is unavailable.
- System Integration: Synthesize hardware, software, and AI components to build a standalone "AI Sentry" prototype that detects anomalies and triggers automated alerts.
